The 2019 growing season began with abundant rainfall, ensuring deep soil moisture well into the year. A long, warm summer followed, characterized by a lack of extreme heat and the cooling influence of foggy mornings, which set the stage for vibrant, expressive wines. The season’s extended and mild conclusion allowed the fruit to retain its freshness and finesse, resulting in wines with exceptional character, structure, and balance.
The 2019 Vintage Brut is a refined blend of 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay, predominantly sourced from the esteemed Durell, Silver Eagle, Manchester Ridge, and Gap’s Crown vineyards.
This wine showcases a remarkable purity of fruit, with vibrant notes of ripe peach, citrus zest, mandarin oil, and ripe Bartlett pear. Subtle hints of fresh pastry add a delicate, creamy undertone to the aromatic profile. It is medium to full-bodied on the palate, delivering a bright and driving character complemented beautifully by its lively acidity. The wine’s crisp, refreshing finish leaves a lasting impression, making it a superb expression of balance and finesse.
“A more Pinot Noir-dominated release, the 2019 Brut is 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay, bottled with 2 grams of dosage. Tart stone fruits, sappy, white flowers, green almond, and chalky mineral notes all shine in this beauty, and it’s beautiful on the palate, with a pure, elegant, seamless, yet still chiseled and focused style. The lower dosage keeps this steely and focused, and it’s actually more in a Blanc de Blancs style, despite the blend.” – Jeb Dunnuck

The 2019 WESTBORN Rosé is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir, sourced from the prestigious Gap’s Crown, Silver Eagle, and Ferrington vineyards. A touch of red Pinot Noir was artfully blended in to achieve its elegant hue.
This wine opens with enticing aromas of strawberry cream, ripe peach, and a medley of red berries, beautifully accented by delicate notes of white flowers. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied, deep, and vinous character, showcasing impressive concentration. The lively acidity provides a perfect counterbalance, adding freshness and energy to the wine’s rich, layered profile. A truly captivating expression of both power and elegance.
“Coming all from Pinot Noir (mostly Gaps Crown), and bottled with 4 grams of dosage, the 2019 Sparkling Rose is flat-out gorgeous, and it’s unquestionably the finest Sparkling Rose I’ve tried outside of Champagne. Savory strawberries, minty herbs, dried flowers, and spicy notes all shine in this beauty, and it’s medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, creamy mouthfeel, terrific overall balance, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Count me impressed. Drink bottles any time over the coming decade.” – Jeb Dunnuck

A perpetual reserve program is a dynamic approach to aging wine, inspired by the traditional Solera system. Each year, as wine is drawn to craft a new blend, it is replenished with younger wine, ensuring the tank always contains a portion of the oldest vintages. This continuous process enriches the blend, adding layers of complexity that deepen with every passing year.
The Perpetual Reserve NV.01 embodies the essence of WESTBORN, marking a milestone as the first non-vintage wine in our collection. This exceptional blend combines 50% 2020 vintage wine, imparting vibrant energy and verve, with 50% perpetual reserve, which contributes depth, power, and the nuanced complexity that only time can bestow. A true reflection of WESTBORN’s commitment to excellence, this wine captures both youthful vitality and the richness of age in perfect harmony.
The Perpetual Reserve NV.01 shows a vibrant and expressive profile, showcasing an elegant blend of fruit and nuanced complexity. On the nose, inviting aromas of fresh pear, yellow apple, and peach are intertwined with subtle hints of vanilla, warm bread and roasted hazelnuts. Delicate white flowers add a fragrant floral lift, contributing to the wine’s aromatic finesse.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, delivering a bright and incisive character and seamless texture. The bright acidity provides a refreshing backbone, perfectly balancing the fruit notes. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of the wine’s vibrant fruit and delicate, nutty undertones.
“It has a gorgeous nose of toasted bread, white flowers, toasted notes, and more stone fruits. This carries to a medium-bodied wine that has a layered, elegant mouthfeel, fine bubbles, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Compared to the other releases in the lineup, it’s a more medium-bodied, chiseled, focused, mineral-driven cuvée. I’d give bottles a year or two, then enjoy over the following decade. This is legit.” – Jeb Dunnuck
